I’m prepared to go on record as saying that 2013 will be the year that Euthanasia is going to ramp up.
The pro-euthanasia groups are steadily increasing their activity, around the hope that Maryan Street’s appalling attack on the choice of vulnerable New Zealanders will be pulled from Parliament’s Ballot.
Euthanasia Debate is a great organisation that’s taking a hard look at euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide, and has come to the conclusion that its going to hit vulnerable Kiwis hard – esp the elderly, the disabled and young people.
In Tasmania, the other battleground, the Premier has endorsed euthanasia – which will come as no real surprise. See Lightweight politicians have written a lightweight report on euthanasia for Tasmanian voters.
If you have an interest in this matter, contact Euthanasia Debate and sign their petition.
2013 is gearing up to be a big year in protecting innocent life. We should all be prepared for it.
St Stephen, pray for us.

Opthomistic,
As you say this will be quite a year parliamentry wise … gay marriage bill as well as the euthanasia bill…how hard we must pray , not only for Holy Mother Church and her struggles ,but also for our politicians and the decisions that they will be making .
Mrs Mac
The experience of people arguing for the legislation to outlaw moral choices (abortion, contraception, homosexual acts) has been that once legalised, the ‘anti’ arguments lose force as moral persuaders. I see the Church planing to do it all again over euthanasia. It would be much more effective to argue: ‘don’t worry about the law, there are better choices for you and your family’. The claim ‘the law is a teacher’ is ok as a hypothesis, but I have seen nothing to establish its truth in New Zealand.
The fact is that virtually every campaign run by the Church in the ‘life’ area related to legislation has been defeated, virtually everywhere, including Spain, Italy, Poland and Ireland.
There is nothing wrong with making a strategic mistake. Making it over and over again is well, not really sensible.

evil prevails when good people do nothing.
it is apathy from the good that allows bad law to be promulgated by a vocal minority
