A worry for Kiwi blokes?

The official Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano recently published an article arguing that the widespread use of oral contraceptive pills has damaged the environment, and is probably “a non-negligible cause of male infertility.” I know I’ve written about this before, as studies have shown for awhile that so much synthetic estrogen going into our environment and recycling back to our drinking water is problematic.

Some dispute the research, but American scientists have found evidence that synthetic estrogen introduced into the ecosystem through the urine of women taking birth-control pills has had damaging effects on fish and wildlife in Western states. It seems that everyone is worrying about the enviroment these days, so shouldn’t this be of some concern to us? Some studies have found it to hugely increase the amount of fish born neither properly female or male and also increase the amount of female fish born – a little worrying for guys perhaps?

      Well, eW.

If you’re a genuine Kiwi bloke, your main concern is that blokes remain blokes, and sheilas remain sheilas. None of this mamby pamby gay poofter stuff ;-)

And y’luv yer missus, and yer kids. You protect yer little girls, and y’give yer boys a belt under the lug occasionally to keep ‘em in line.

That’s why I’ve got two handsome sons and a beautiful daughter, who never gave me no grief – (well almost never)

      And seven grandchildren………

Hang on……..I’ve only got ONE grandson, and SIX grandaughters……..maybe there is something to this estrogen thing.

I just thought me boys never had the mixture strong enough

      Some related news:-

Eighty five year old Carl Djerassi the Austrian chemist who helped invent the contraceptive pill now says that his co-creation has led to a “demographic catastrophe.”

      God Bless

You know, I’ve been hearing this research for a while and I think I’m still in denial. How on earth could it have that much effect? Freaky.

It’s a worry for Kiwi lasses, too. Well, the ones who want to have families, at least.

A friend of mine is doing her PhD on the effects of cattle effluent on the environment. For what it’s worth, she says that in New Zealand the artificial estrogens that are given to dairy cows have *way* more effect when they make their way back into the environment than those from human contraceptives.
