The official Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano recently published an article arguing that the widespread use of oral contraceptive pills has damaged the environment, and is probably “a non-negligible cause of male infertility.” I know I’ve written about this before, as studies have shown for awhile that so much synthetic estrogen going into our environment and recycling back to our drinking water is problematic.
Some dispute the research, but American scientists have found evidence that synthetic estrogen introduced into the ecosystem through the urine of women taking birth-control pills has had damaging effects on fish and wildlife in Western states. It seems that everyone is worrying about the enviroment these days, so shouldn’t this be of some concern to us? Some studies have found it to hugely increase the amount of fish born neither properly female or male and also increase the amount of female fish born – a little worrying for guys perhaps?
