Oops looks like I’ve missed several posts… but in my defence I haven’t been the only one (it’s the old ‘I can sin too because everyone else is sinning’ thing) but never fear, I am back to satisfy the Methuselah cravings.
It’s been a couple of weeks since Ash Wednesday but I have to say that I was really impressed by the attendance at the lunchtime Mass at the Cathedral. There were quite a number of office workers there and I wondered what they did with their ash-y forehead when they got back to work. Do they wipe or leave? I have to admit that I wipe when I have to go back to work. I’d love to leave it on, but it might be a little unprofessional when meetings clients. Or sohuld I not care that it’s unprofessional because God is a higher power than my boss. But then God doesn’t help me pay the bills. I have gone with the ash all the way home from Westminster Cathedral through the crowded London streets and Underground, which should be worth at least some brownie points right?
So, If you couldn’t tell by my attempting to use Simpsons quotes to introduce my every post, well I like The Simpsons. I used to watch it religiously and have seasons 2-10 on DVD. No season 1 because it was a little rubbish, and nothing post season 10 because there’s not much that’s good after season 10. Oh sure there’s the odd good episode, but it’s quite tiresome sitting through subpar episode after subpar episode just to get to a good one. Perhaps they should have just quit while they were ahead, but the show keeps reeling in the viewers so who am I to comment. The Simpsons are a bit like my posts really except I was never really ahead and haven’t really been reeling in the viewers. But I do know when it’s time to call it quits and that is today. After 5 and a bit years of trying to blog I have finally realised that this isn’t really my calling and more talented bloggers with more spirituality to share will be taking over. I must say it’s certianly been educational and I’ve enjoyed all the discussions we’ve had on here, especially in the early days.
Anyway, I wish you all a holy Lent and hope you all have a happy and holy Easter!
